Solar thermal hot water systems trap heat from the sun and use it to satisfy residential hot water needs.

REQUIREMENTS

• Southern Exposure – Collectors should be mounted in a location with southern exposure where they’ll receive direct sunlight (unshaded) at least between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm
• Back-up System – On cloudy days or in the winter months, your system may meet only a portion of your total domestic hot water needs. The balance is taken care of with your existing hot water system

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:

• Solar energy is environmentally friendly. It does not pollute the air like other energy sources and therefore does not contribute to global warming, acid rain or smog
• Energy received directly from the sun does not deplete natural resources
• No fuel transportation is required, so no residual environmental impact
