To get the best performance from your solar power system, the collectors should be mounted in a location with southern exposure where they will receive direct sunlight (unshaded) at least between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm.
An “off-grid” system is an electrical system that is not connected to the “grid”, a term used to describe power provided by a utility company. With an off-grid solar electric system, you become your own power company generating your own electricity.
For every dollar you spend on energy efficiency in your home, you’ll save approximately $3 to $5 on your solar power system. While energy efficient lights and appliances will keep costs down, keep in mind that small solar electric systems are not practical for powering electric space heating systems or water heaters, air conditioners, electric stoves or electric clothes dryers.

The E-Classic 3200 has an efficiency rating of 97%. With its 305,000 Btu/hr rating and emissions rate that is one-fourth of the emission limit set forth in the EPA Phase 2 Program, there is no cleaner outdoor furnace with this amount of heat output.
Owners who cut their own wood can entirely eliminate their heating bills. In fact, the energy savings realized by heating with a Central Boiler outdoor wood or wood pellet furnace can often pay back the purchase price in the first two to three years. Over a ten year period, a homeowner or business may save $10,000 to $50,000 or more in heating costs.
Wood is a totally renewable resource, which, when burned, results in no net carbon dioxide increase. In addition, harvesting firewood has a pruning effect on forests, which allows net growth to flourish. And the wood you burn most likely comes from your local area – not imported as is the case with oil.
The Maine DEP adopted rules in 2007 related to outdoor wood boilers. Chapter 150 establishes requirements for emission standards, siting criteria and labeling requirements for all outdoor wood boilers.
