Included in the tax package passed into law on December 17, 2010 was the extension of a tax credit for biomass heating appliances that was set to expire on December 31, 2010. Although the tax credit for biomass heating appliances will be extended through 2011, Congress did decrease the benefit to consumers. Credit is 10% for the purchase of a biomass heating appliance in 2011, with a maximum credit of $300. Credit applies to the purchase price only (installation costs are not included).
