1. How much does it cost? Typically, our installed packages range from $8,000 to $11,000 for systems that include generators in the 8.5 to 18kW range. The package includes the generator with a mounting pad, automatic transfer switch, custom electrical installation performed by our master electrician and warranty authorization. Prices subject to change. 2. What do I have to do when the power goes out? Nothing. The system operates automatically. You don’t even need to be home. 3. How do I know what size generator I need? We will determine the proper size generator needed after performing on-site load tests. The proper generator and transfer switch for your application will be specified on your quote. 4. How loud is the generator? The generator is equipped with sound-dampening technology allowing it to operate at a quiet 65 decibels – about the same sound level as a central air conditioner. 5. Where is the generator placed? The generator is placed outside your home. It has an attractive, weatherproof enclosure. We work with you to carefully select a spot that will keep installation costs down while preserving aesthetics. We have come up with many creative solutions to satisfy site requirements. 6. Where will you install the transfer switch? The switch can be installed inside or outside. We recommend a location close to the electrical panel to keep installation costs down. 7. How much propane do I need? Every installation is a little different but generally speaking, we recommend a minimum 200 gallon reserve dedicated for the generator. If access to your property by a propane truck is difficult in winter months or during stormy weather, more capacity should be considered. 8. How do I get my generator serviced? After completing the installation we will provide you with a proposal for scheduled maintenance to keep your Kohler Power System operating properly. We’ll also provide you with a contact number for 24 hour emergency service. 9. Will you install where I live? We install throughout the state of Maine. It’s likely we already have installations in your area.
