1. How much does it cost?
Our Kohler generators start at $4,300.
Carburetor heater, starting battery and startup & warranty authorization included with all generators that we sell.
Our Kohler expert will help you determine the proper size generator and appropriate transfer switch for your application. We'll then provide you with a written quote for a Kohler Power System that best meets your needs. Prices subject to change.
2. What size generator do I need?
There's a lot of equipment to choose from with different configurations of generators and switches available. Our Kohler expert will discuss your options with you and help determine the proper size generator and equipment needed for your home.
3. Why should I buy a Kohler generator from Independent Power?
We offer expert technical support from the start of your project to it's completion including layout and sizing assistance. Owner Rick Thibodeau is our Kohler Power System expert. He's a master electrician with over 25 years experience. He's personally installed over 125 Kohler generators throughout Maine. That type of expertise is hard to find when you buy from a box store or online website. Rick is no longer doing installation work in the field but he's available to provide expert technical support to your electrician or installer throughout the sale & installation process. We also offer site visits and delivery services. Except for the actual electrical hookup, we can provide everything you need with experience you can trust.
4. What do I have to do when the power goes out?
Nothing. A Kohler Power System operates automatically. You don't even need to be home.
5. How much propane do I need?
Every situation is a little different, but generally speaking, we recommend a minimum of 1-2 "120 pig tanks" dedicated for the generator. If access to your property by a propane truck is difficult in winter months or during stormy weather, more capacity should be considered.
6. How do I keep my generator serviced?
The life of your Kohler engine depends on proper maintenance procedures. You can choose to service your own generator or take advantage of the planned maintenance service we offer. We'll also provide you with a contact number for 24 hour emergency service.
